Characters

  • Grace Halston – A sharp-witted but emotionally scarred public defender whose insomnia blurs the line between reality and dream.

  • Lucien Vale – A calm, enigmatic defendant accused of violent crimes with no clear motive. He knows more about Grace than he should.

  • Judge Medina – No-nonsense, pragmatic, and quietly watching Grace unravel in her courtroom.

  • Asher Tate – A fellow attorney and former friend, now deeply concerned by Grace’s behavior and what she may be hiding from herself.

  • Detective Mara Chen – The original investigator of the cold cases that Grace is unknowingly dreaming about.

Creative Process

This project began as a legal thriller, but quickly deepened into something more psychological. We worked with the author to build tension through ambiguity — using Grace’s insomnia not just as a condition, but as a narrative device. The story is layered with doubt, trauma, and truth buried beneath memory. We helped shape the screenplay to reflect that complexity, while maintaining a sharp pace and clear through-line. The result is a script that challenges both its characters and its audience.
